The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calzada looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Calzada looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Calzada takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Speedo tries to work over Calzada's front leg with a kick but Calzada checks it.
Calzada scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Calzada wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Calzada fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Speedo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Speedo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Calzada closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Calzada lands in his opponent's guard.

Calzada dives in and grabs Speedo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Speedo pushes down on Calzada's head and hops out.
Speedo looks to land a left hand but Calzada moved out of range nicely.
Speedo slaps away a takedown attempt from Calzada, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Calzada feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Calzada with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Calzada stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Speedo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A very excited looking Perlito Calzada rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
