PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Randy Houston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Wack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wack has chosen Gummy Bear Song as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Wack!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Houston circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wack pushes Houston away with a front kick.
Wack is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Some wild striking there from Wack.
Wack will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wack.
No joy there for Wack, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wack swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Houston walks into a stiff left hand from Wack.
Houston has a takedown stuffed.

Wack rushes Houston and presses him up against the cage.
Houston is working for takedown but Wack is calmly controlling the position for now.
Wack can't break the clinch.
Houston with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Wack is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Houston drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Houston tries for a takedown but Wack sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Wack throws a right and a left that both miss.
Wack is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Houston fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Houston shoots in for a double leg but Wack sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Houston shoots in and drives through. Wack sprawls well.

Houston decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Houston seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Houston decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Wack misses with a body kick.
Wack misses with a double jab.
Wack throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Wack lands a left and a right that sends Houston crashing to the canvas! Wack dives into mount looking to finish!


Houston is rocked!


It looks like Randy Houston has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Houston is wriggling around trying to escape.
Oh Houston is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wack controlling the pace for now.
Houston seems to have got his legs back now.
Wack trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Wack working the ground and pound effectively.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Houston is desperately trying to improve his position but Wack has a good base and remains in mount.
Houston is bucking up trying to escape but Wack cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Houston flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Wack with shots to the head and body - Houston looks very uncomfortable down there.
Wack trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Wack with the ground and pound from mount.
Houston is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wack really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Houston. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wack looking to finish with strikes here!
Houston is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Houston wants to control but Wack is having none of it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Houston regains half guard.
Houston moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Wack dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Randy Houston's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Houston closes the distance and clinches.
Houston drops down looking for an ankle pick but Wack pulls his leg out and moves away.
Houston misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Wack tries to clinch up

and Houston counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Houston working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wack keeping moving, preventing Houston from controlling successfully.

Houston drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Houston jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wack wants to stand but Houston is controlling the position.

Wack controlling Houston's posture.

Houston thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Houston is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Houston postures up and lands a big shot to Wack's brow.
Houston throws a big right hand that misses.
Houston throws and elbow that misses. Wack uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Houston's guard. Nice move by Wack!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wack trying to control but Houston is working from the bottom.
Houston bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wack's guard.
Wack keeping moving, preventing Houston from controlling successfully.

Houston is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Houston postures up in Wack's guard and throws a big left but Wack blocks it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Houston wants to pass the guard but Wack is keeping the position.
Houston trying to control the position from guard on top but Wack is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wack wants to sweep but no luck.
Houston throws and elbow that misses. Wack uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Houston's guard. Nice move by Wack!
Wack scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Wack would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Houston is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wack working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Houston has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wack can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wack must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Houston has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Wack should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Houston has tightened it up now! Wack should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
