Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dean Campana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Philco Hitachi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Philco Hitachi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dean Campana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Philco Hitachi!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Joseph Jones and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hitachi misses with a takedown
and Campana makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Campana lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hitachi takes a step back to recover.
Hitachi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Campana counters with an outside leg kick.
Hitachi closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Hitachi shoots and misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Dean Campana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Philco Hitachi.
Campana looks to land a combination but Hitachi avoids it well.

Campana closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hitachi did well to prevent Campana getting side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Hitachi tries to get to full guard but Campana has control of the leg.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Campana's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Campana seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hitachi for as long as he can get away with.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Campana connects with a nice short shot to Hitachi's temple.

We're going to have a standup here because Dean Campana wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Campana shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Campana landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Hitachi is looking for a sweep. Campana is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hitachi wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Hitachi is working to avoid the ground and pound but Campana connects with a decent elbow.

Hitachi is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hitachi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Campana wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Campana is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hitachi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Campana connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hitachi some visible discomfort.

Hitachi takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Campana scores with a couple of short elbows.
Campana avoids the strikes from the bottom by Hitachi.
Hitachi tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

Hitachi is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Campana lands a nice forearm strike.
Hitachi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Campana gets back to full guard.
Campana seems keen to control Hitachi's posture.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Campana is on top in guard.
Campana stands up over Hitachi, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Campana won't allow Hitachi to sweep him here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hitachi is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Hitachi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Campana defends well.
Campana cracks Hitachi with a solid left hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean Campana dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Campana moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Philco Hitachi has been cut.
Campana lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hitachi takes a step back to recover.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Campana shoots in and gets a takedown into Hitachi's guard.
Campana's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Campana makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Campana's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Campana content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Campana has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Campana passes into half guard.
Campana working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Hitachi is breathing heavily.

Campana postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Hitachi out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Campana goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!
