And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Utah Jones!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Awesome shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Awesome misses with a series of wild punches.
Jones misses with a head kick.

Jones drops Awesome with a nice combination! Jones dives into Awesome's guard, looking to finish!

Awesome is rocked!

It looks like Mark Awesome has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Awesome controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself.
Oh Awesome is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Awesome utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Jones drops back looking for a leg! Awesome is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Awesome manages to kick Jones off! Jones jumps back into Awesome's guard.

Awesome avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Awesome seems to have got his legs back now.
Jones controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Awesome can't keep his opponent in guard - Jones advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Jones looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Awesome is refusing to be controlled, as Jones sits in half guard.
Jones misses with a head shot. Awesome uses the momentum to regain guard.
Jones's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Jones trying to control but Awesome is working from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Utah Jones wasn't active enough on the ground.
Awesome doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Awesome ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Oooh a lovely combination from Jones sends Awesome down but not out. Jones dives into side control looking to finish.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Awesome has escaped the position, nice work there.
Jones fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Jones working away.

Jones tries for a kimura but Awesome is defending well.
Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Awesome struggling a bit here.
Awesome tries to escape but Jones is in control.

Jones decides to stand up, so the ref orders Awesome to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Awesome is defended easily by Jones.
Awesome looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.
No joy there for Awesome, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The crowd cheers as Jones lands an impressive looking overhand right. Awesome doesn't seem phased though.
Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Awesome circles away quickly and effectively.
Awesome looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Awesome persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Awesome. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Awesome fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away.
Awesome is breathing heavily.

Awesome tries to keep at a distance but Jones has taken the fight into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Awesome is trying to break free.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Awesome is trying to force a seperation but Jones has the dominant position.
Jones tries for a takedown but Awesome manages to get underhooks.
Jones blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Awesome tries to circle away but Jones has him pinned against the cage.
Jones scores with an uppercut up the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Utah Jones dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mark Awesome's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Awesome drops his hands momentarily and Jones takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Jones cracks Awesome with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Awesome tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Jones pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Awesome is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
