PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Donnie Dynamite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Bowens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donnie Dynamite!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Bowens!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowens is looking to clinch.
Bowens tries to land a front kick but Dynamite steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Dynamite stuffs the takedown attempt from Bowens. Bowens gets slowly back to his feet.

Bowens feints and as Dynamite raises his hands in defense, Bowens changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dynamite is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bowens pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dynamite is keeping the position for now.

Bowens drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bowens jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Bowens is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Bowens postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Dynamite is working an open guard so Bowens takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Bowens. No joy for Dynamite on that attempt.

Bowens fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dynamite manages to avoid it.

Bowens pushes Dynamite up against the cage in a clinch.

Bowens is trying to trip Dynamite. He has hold of a leg but Dynamite is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bowens persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bowens wants to control from the top but Dynamite keeps moving.

Bowens is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Dynamite is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by James Bowens.

Bowens darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Bowens content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Bowens stops Dynamite from getting back to his feet.
Bowens slips a nice elbow through Dynamite's hands, connecting with Dynamite's forehead.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dynamite is staying active underneath Bowens, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dynamite doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Bowens counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bowens seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Bowens escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dynamite gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dynamite looking to sit in guard and control but Bowens gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Dynamite gets caught flat footed, as Bowens shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

James Bowens showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

James Bowens comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bowens has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

James Bowens decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
