PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hongan Kolistaja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anatoli Chepakov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hongan Kolistaja!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anatoli Chepakov!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Fedor Mirinova and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chepakov takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Kolistaja bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Chepakov's head backwards.

Chepakov rushes Kolistaja and presses him up against the ropes.
Kolistaja lands a left hand.
Kolistaja stalling.
Kolistaja trying to control the position but instead, Chepakov has worked for underhooks and has pushed Kolistaja into the ropes.
Kolistaja is breathing heavily.

Chepakov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kolistaja throws a big shot that misses.
Chepakov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kolistaja pinned against the ropes. Kolistaja gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chepakov fails with a takedown attempt.
Chepakov lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Chepakov wants to clinch.

Chepakov rushes Kolistaja and presses him up against the ropes.

A head punch on the inside from Kolistaja fails to land.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kolistaja.
Chepakov is trying to pull guard but Kolistaja turns him against the ropes and we stay in the clinch.
Hongan Kolistaja has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anatoli Chepakov.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Chepakov lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kolistaja!

Chepakov working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Chepakov looking to control but Kolistaja is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Chepakov is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kolistaja to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kolistaja shrugs it off.

Chepakov wants to control the pace but Kolistaja is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Kolistaja is trying to escape the mount.

Chepakov looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Chepakov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kolistaja is looking to escape.

Chepakov jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kolistaja manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Chepakov takes a little break here. Kolistaja wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Anatoli Chepakov will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Kolistaja throws a hook but Chepakov avoids it easily.
Kolistaja just misses with a punch to the body.
Kolistaja swats away the attempt to clinch by Chepakov.
Chepakov fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kolistaja defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Chepakov.
Chepakov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Chepakov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kolistaja might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Anatoli Chepakov wasn't active enough on the ground.
Chepakov tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Kolistaja manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chepakov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Chepakov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
No luck for Chepakov with that takedown attempt.
Hongan Kolistaja has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anatoli Chepakov.
Chepakov tries to clinch but Kolistaja is having none of it.

A looping hook to the body misses from Kolistaja. Chepakov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Chepakov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kolistaja sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kolistaja just misses with a punch to the body.
Chepakov throws a head kick that Kolistaja semi-blocks.
Chepakov takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Kolistaja throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Chepakov sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Chepakov tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Kolistaja manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kolistaja tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chepakov was well out of range. Poor timing from Kolistaja.
A head kick misses from Chepakov.
Chepakov on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Chepakov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Anatoli Chepakov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jab, jab by Kolistaja - just one landing.
A swing and a miss from Kolistaja.

A head kick from Chepakov lands but Kolistaja takes it in his stride.
Kolistaja ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chepakov moves away.
Chepakov throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Kolistaja waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Chepakov.
Chepakov fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kolistaja.
Chepakov fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kolistaja has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Kolistaja misses with a hook. Chepakov ducked under it nicely.

Chepakov has managed to clinch.
Kolistaja has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Chepakov controlling the action here for a moment.
Kolistaja is struggling to control the position.
Chepakov lands an elbow inside.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chepakov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kolistaja smiles and moves away.
Kolistaja works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Kolistaja smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Chepakov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kolistaja swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Chepakov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Chepakov tries to free his leg and advance position but Kolistaja is retaining full guard.

Kolistaja uses the ropes to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kolistaja stuffs the takedown.

And that's the end of the fight!
Anatoli Chepakov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Chepakov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
