Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between El Guapo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyler Patel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patel is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: T.I.- Big Things Poppin. The key to victory for El Guapo has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Guapo cracks Patel with an open hand slap.
Patel takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Guapo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Patel. Patel circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Patel is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Guapo's half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Patel prevents Guapo from improving his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Patel in particular looking to stall.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Patel moves nicely into side control.

Patel tries for a kimura but Guapo is defending well.
Guapo prevents Patel from improving position.
Patel landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Patel tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Patel has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Patel in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Patel wants to control but Guapo is keeping him busy.

Guapo tries to buck Patel off but Patel is having none of it.
Guapo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Patel on the ground.

Patel has hold of Guapo's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Guapo tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Patel cranks the arm and Guapo screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Guapo, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Kyler Patel!
Kyler Patel decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
