PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tim Still (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrei James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrei James will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tim Still!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrei James!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James is looking to slow Still down with leg kicks.
Still pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Still doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Still clinches.
James tries to pull guard but Still holds him up against the cage and eventually James drops back down to his feet.
James wants to take the fight to the mat but Still manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
James is trying to break free.

James's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
James darts in trying to clinch

and Still counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
James preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Still wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Still controls the pace.
Still will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.

James escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Still gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Still is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tim Still.
James swats away the attempt to clinch by Still.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James is looking to score with low kicks.

James is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Still's half guard.

Still actively working from the bottom here.
Still works his way to full guard. Good work.
Still pulls James in to control the position.
Still throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Still. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
James wanted to stand there but Still had control of the position.

Still looking for a sweep. Not yet Still, not yet.
Still keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully.
James looks gassed!
Still trying to control the position here.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Andrei James.
No luck for Still with that takedown attempt.
Still throws a sloppy head kick and James moves out of range easily.
James avoids the head kick by Still.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Still fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Still fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Still. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Still as he avoids it easily.
Still is looking to clinch.

Still fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. James sprawls well initially but Still persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
It looks like Still is going to stand back up.
James is trying to get back to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Still thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed James's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Still dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


James shoots in for a double leg but Still sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
James tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Still paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Still closes the distance looking to clinch

and James counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Still!
James avoids the attempt from Still to control.
Still is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Still wants to control but James is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Still working to try and regain half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Still sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Still trying to hold on to James's head to control him but James postures up.
James wants to stand up but Still is controlling the position.

Still kicks off James and gets to his feet.

Still bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Still is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, James has escaped the position, nice work there.
Tim Still overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
James is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Still has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for James!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Still has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! James is forced to tap!
