Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Grey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lopez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by South Texas Death Ride. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez throws a leg kick
and Grey counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lopez won't be happy with that.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Lopez is trying to improve his position.
Grey is chipping away with strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lopez is desperately trying to improve his position but Grey has a good base and remains in mount.

Grey working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Lopez slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Grey connects with a nice short shot to Lopez's temple.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Grey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lopez wants to control but Grey is keeping busy and won't allow it.
