The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Black has Lighty up against the cage in a clinch.
Lighty tries to break free but Black pushes him back against the cage.
Black's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Lighty tries to circle away but Black has him pinned against the cage.

Black breaks the clinch.
Black is looking to clinch but Lighty is avoiding it.
Lighty misses with a double jab.
Lighty fails to land with a series of punches.
Lighty looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Black fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lighty looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A looping hook to the body misses from Black. Lighty does a little dance to reset his feet.
Black is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Lighty bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Black's head.

Black will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Black tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lighty swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Black scores with a crisp jab that stopped Lighty in his tracks.
Lighty lands a jab to Black's midsection.
Lighty avoids a punch combination nicely.
Black doesn't manage to clinch there - Lighty circles away.
Black uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lighty.
Lighty takes one to the chin there.
Lighty does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Black swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Lighty.
Black showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lighty.
A punch lands to the side of Black 's head but he takes it in his stride.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Black ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Lighty sizes up Black with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Black looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Lighty scores with a one two! Black had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Lighty misses with a series of wild punches.
Black lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lighty circles away quickly and effectively.
Lighty throws a lazy head kick
and Black cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Black fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Black clinches with his opponent.

Black breaks the clinch.
Sloppy strikes from Black. Those never looked like landing.
Lighty avoids the body shot from Black.

Black wants to clinch but Lighty slips to the side
and Black takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Black tries to clinch up but Lighty circles away and keeps his distance.
Lighty fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Black on the side of the head.
Black throws a series of punches but Lighty avoids them all with ease.

Black drives through and clinches with Lighty against the cage.

Black breaks from the clinch.
Black throws a right hand that Lighty ducks under and follows up with a left that Lighty also avoids with ease.
Black wants to clinch up but Lighty keeps it at a distance.
Black throws a nice looking combination but Lighty bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Black tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lighty was well out of range. Poor timing from Black.
Lighty scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Black is rocked!
Lighty feints with a jab and clips Black right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Black is sent crashing into the canvas and Lighty leaps in for the kill! Black tries to get to his feet but Lighty is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Black is in need of a savior and steps in!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Lighty!
David Lighty bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
