PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Frank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Gordon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Frank!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frank stuffs the takedown attempt from Gordon. Gordon gets slowly back to his feet.
Frank uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gordon.

Gordon gets tackled into the cage by Frank. Frank maintains the clinch.

Frank lands a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Frank pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gordon is keeping the position for now.

Gordon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Frank doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Frank manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gordon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Frank defends it easily.

Frank got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gordon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Frank has managed to get both his arms back between Gordon's legs - danger averted.

Gordon has hold of Frank's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Frank manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Gordon is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Frank can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Gordon is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Frank is surviving well by controlling Gordon's body position as best he can.

Gordon is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Frank to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Frank shrugs it off.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Frank can do anything to dispel that myth.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Frank has taken the fight to the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Frank wants the takedown. Gordon is fighting it off but Frank persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gordon's guard against the cage.

Gordon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Frank must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Frank slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gordon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Frank gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Matt Gordon will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Max Frank has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Gordon throws a looping overhand right but Frank ducks down to avoid it.

Frank fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gordon to the ground. Frank is now in Gordon's guard.

Gordon is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Frank is aware though and is defending well.
Frank engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gordon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Frank can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gordon is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Frank defends well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Max Frank.
