Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rick James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kevin Nash!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James tries to clinch up.

Nash closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming James to the mat! James manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nash scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

James might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Nash postures up and lands a big shot to James's brow.

Nash stands and steps away. James gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Nice sprawl there from James as Nash shoots in.
James shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nash sprawls well. Nash wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. James gets slowly back to his feet.
James misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nash is trying hard to land a takedown here. James sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
James tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Horrible takedown by Nash or perhaps it was just good defense by James which made him look bad.
Rick James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Nash.
James is looking to clinch but Nash is avoiding it.
Nash keeps the fight on the outside.
Nash shoots for a double leg takedown but James sprawls well. He's pushed Nash's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from James enables Nash to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. James manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Nash is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
James wants to get back to his feet but Nash is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Nash keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of James's head.
James preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
James not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
James is really struggling to control Nash but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Nash works over James with some ground and pound from guard.
Nash with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nash on the ground.

James has momentary wrist control but Nash slips an elbow through the middle.

Nash gets to his feet - James follows without any prompting.
Kevin Nash seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from James. No joy for Nash on that attempt.

Nash shoots and misses
and James counters with a series of strikes. Nash will be more careful next time no doubt.
James scores with a punch to the head.

Nash scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Nash lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
James is trying to stand back up but Nash is controlling him

Nash stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Nash shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says James as he avoids it easily.

James manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nash on his heels. He'll look to pass Nash's guard now, I'm sure.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Nash has his foot on James's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. James works his way back into a safe position though.
James trying to control the position from guard on top but Nash is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nash working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. James doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Nash is tightening it up a little... James has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! James reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! James taps out! Nice BJJ there by Nash!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Kevin Nash!
