PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bart Boks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Saskia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boks shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Saskia is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Saskia keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Boks tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Boks avoids the attempt from Saskia to control.

Boks's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Saskia is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Saskia tries to reverse the position but Boks maintains control.
Boks controlling the pace for now.
Saskia is looking to improve his position but Boks isn't that keen on the idea.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Boks takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Boks has Saskia up against the cage in a clinch.
Boks prevents a takedown attempt there.
Boks lands a knee to the head.
Saskia misses with a hook from the clinch.
Boks is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Boks pulls guard.

Boks wriggles free and stands up.
Saskia tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Boks counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Boks clinches.

Saskia tightens his grip and picks Boks up, before dumping him to the ground. Boks manages to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Saskia looking to sit in guard and control but Boks gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Boks trying to control the position from guard on top but Saskia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Saskia has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Boks has passed into side control.
Saskia is trying to control Boks's posture but Boks avoids it.
Saskia is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Boks is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Boks takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Saskia tries to hold on but Boks pushes him away.
Boks tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Saskia tries to hold on but Boks pushes him away.
Boks blocks Saskia's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Saskia is looking to improve his position but Boks isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bart Boks dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Boks tries to bum rush Saskia with a series of wild strikes but Saskia uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Boks counters with a shoot takedown. Saskia fights it but they end up in guard.

Saskia throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Saskia working for submissions but it's allowed Boks to get to half guard.

Boks stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Saskia to get to his feet.
Saskia takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Boks works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Boks fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Saskia sprawls well initially but Boks persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Boks postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Saskia to stand up.
Boks throws a jab when Saskia was well out of range.
Saskia swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Boks takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Saskia throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Boks counters with a shoot takedown. Saskia fights it but they end up in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Saskia moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Boks pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Saskia is keeping the position for now.

Boks decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Saskia, up you get!
Boks looks to land a combination. Saskia sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Saskia wants to clinch up but Boks keeps it at a distance.
Saskia throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Saskia misses with a combination
and Boks counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Boks tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Saskia paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Saskia closes the distance but Boks moves to the side
and Boks makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Boks counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Boks.

Boks passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Ben Saskia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Boks decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Saskia throws a leg kick but Boks checks it.
Saskia misses with a straight left.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boks on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Boks clinches up with Saskia and pushes him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Boks has Saskia pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Boks pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Saskia tumbling to the mat - Boks dives into Saskia's guard.

Boks stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Well Boks has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
