Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hector Velazquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximo Bertnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Velazquez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Since the Flood- "Valor and Vengeance. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velazquez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bertnar was well out of range. Poor timing from Velazquez.
Velazquez throws a hook to the side of Bertnar's head but Bertnar sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Velazquez misses with a wild body shot.
Velazquez getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

It looks like Maximo Bertnar has been cut.
Bertnar shoots for a takedown but Velazquez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bertnar tries to clinch up.
Velazquez swings for the body but Bertnar moves out of range.
Velazquez moves into range and connects with a jab.
Bertnar is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bertnar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Velazquez but Velazquez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bertnar looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Velazquez throws a body punch but Bertnar moves out of range.
Hector Velazquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velazquez throws a right hand that Bertnar ducks under and follows up with a left that Bertnar also avoids with ease.
Velazquez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bertnar slips under a jab from Velazquez.
Velazquez misses the jab.
Bertnar shoots in for a takedown but Velazquez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hector Velazquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maximo Bertnar.

Velazquez lands with a hook. Bertnar tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Velazquez misses with a looping left.

Velazquez tries to keep at a distance but Bertnar has taken the fight into the clinch.
Velazquez tries to circle away but Bertnar has him pinned against the cage.
Velazquez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Velazquez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Velazquez looks to land a left hand but Bertnar moved out of range nicely.
Bertnar fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Velazquez avoids it really well and circles away.

Bertnar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Bertnar misses with a head shot. Velazquez uses the momentum to regain guard.
Bertnar wants to control from the top but Velazquez keeps moving.

Velazquez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bertnar looking to sit in guard and control but Velazquez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Bertnar is trying to control the position from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Maximo Bertnar hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Bertnar slips a jab from Velazquez.
Bertnar throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Velazquez lands with a shot to the body.
Bertnar takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Velazquez connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Bertnar's hands.
Bertnar walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

That has opened up Maximo Bertnar's cut even more.
Bertnar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Velazquez.
Velazquez throws a lazy uppercut

and Bertnar counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Velazquez manages to get to full guard.
Bertnar throws a strike but Velazquez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Bertnar wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bertnar has his foot on Velazquez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Velazquez works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Velazquez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Bertnar avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Velazquez lands a jab.
Bertnar slips under a jab.
Bertnar takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Velazquez smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Bertnar is rocked!
Velazquez cracks Bertnar with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Bertnar falls to his knees and Velazquez doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hector Velazquez!
In his post fight interview, Hector Velazquez started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
