The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mayweather Jr throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mayweather Jr is looking to clinch.
Mayweather Jr misses with a hook. Zola ducked under it nicely.
Mayweather Jr throws out a loose jab but Zola uses good head movement to avoid it.
Zola takes a swing at Mayweather Jr's ribcage but misses.

Zola is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mayweather Jr.
Mayweather Jr throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mayweather Jr scores with a jab. Zola acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Mayweather Jr does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Mayweather Jr misses with an uppercut. Zola saw that one coming.
Mayweather Jr slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Mayweather Jr rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Zola moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mayweather Jr might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Zola, as that shot connected.
Nice uppercut lands for Mayweather Jr. That snapped Zola's head back.

Mayweather Jr is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Zola had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Zola breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Zola shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Floyd Mayweather Jr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Zola shoots in but no luck this time.
A punch lands to the side of Zola 's head but he takes it in his stride.

The crowd cheers as Mayweather Jr lands an impressive looking overhand right. Zola doesn't seem phased though.
Mayweather Jr has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Mayweather Jr will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Floyd Mayweather Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mayweather Jr feints and then cracks Zola's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Zola down.
Zola has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mayweather Jr finds it's way round the side to connect with Zola's head.
Zola gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mayweather Jr misses with a right hand
and Zola counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mayweather Jr swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Zola.
Mayweather Jr lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Mayweather Jr has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Floyd Mayweather Jr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Zola closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Zola escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mayweather Jr gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Mayweather Jr passes Zola's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mayweather Jr is working for a kimura but Zola is defending it quite comfortably.
Zola is doing well to control the position and prevent Mayweather Jr from advancing to side control.

Mayweather Jr is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Gianfranco Zola has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mayweather Jr wants to work for an arm triangle but Zola is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mayweather Jr is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Zola is just riding it out for now. Mayweather Jr eventually gives up the hold.
