These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Massimo Fabbri!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fabbri has a takedown stuffed.
Fabbri moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Fabbri tries to clinch but Oliveira is having none of it.

Fabbri with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Oliveira to score with a decent uppercut.

Fabbri shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fabbri showed some decent athleticism there.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Oliveira tries to kick Fabbri off but Fabbri keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Fabbri seems to be working for a kimura but Oliveira defends the submission attempt.
Oliveira is looking to escape.
Fabbri not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fabbri fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Oliveira is breathing heavily.
Oliveira takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
BOOM! Fabbri connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Fabbri looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

The referee warns Oliveira that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fabbri pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Fabbri is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Fabbri!
