Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Trajan Argyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Kiptanui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Argyle comes to the cage accompanied by Go to Sleep. Kiptanui comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Steen1 - Huvipuiston takana kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Gabriel Kiptanui has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gabriel Kiptanui!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Argyle fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gabriel Kiptanui seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Argyle misses the shot to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Argyle.
Argyle throws a lazy right hand but Kiptanui sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kiptanui throws a head kick that misses.
Argyle keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kiptanui.
The fighters circling - Argyle throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Kiptanui changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Argyle looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Argyle is looking to reverse the position.
Kiptanui with the ground and pound but Argyle regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Kiptanui works his way into side control.
Argyle parries the strikes from Kiptanui easily there. Kiptanui is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Argyle to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kiptanui is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Argyle is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Argyle managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kiptanui.
Kiptanui tries to get to his feet but Argyle is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Kiptanui in his guard.
Kiptanui with a flurry of punches that miss.
Kiptanui passes into half guard.

Kiptanui is looking for a kimura but Argyle is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kiptanui to get the leverage.

Kiptanui is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Argyle doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kiptanui.

Argyle is defending against the submission attempts here by Kiptanui.

Kiptanui seems to be working for a kimura but Argyle defends the submission attempt.

Kiptanui stalling away here and it's allowed Argyle to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Argyle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kiptanui can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kiptanui is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Kiptanui throws an elbow that misses. Argyle uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kiptanui's guard. Nice move by Argyle!

Argyle passes into half guard.
Kiptanui is in trouble now - Argyle has advanced to mount!
Argyle mounts Kiptanui! Really nice guard pass there!

Argyle gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Argyle throws a predictable looking body shot

and Kiptanui counters by clinching up.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kiptanui gets control of Argyle's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kiptanui will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Argyle is really struggling to control Kiptanui but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Trajan Argyle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kiptanui is in all sorts of trouble here.
Argyle fails to move to back control.
Argyle moves to his opponent's back but Kiptanui bucks him off and ends up in guard. A bit of a disaster there for Argyle.
Kiptanui tries to free his leg and advance position but Argyle is retaining full guard.

Kiptanui throws a strike but Argyle rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Argyle passes Kiptanui's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Argyle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kiptanui keeps working.
Argyle is looking to advance position but Kiptanui won't allow it.

Argyle bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kiptanui's guard.

Argyle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kiptanui swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Argyle wants to control from the top but Kiptanui keeps moving.

Kiptanui looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Argyle slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Argyle is looking to take a break and control but Kiptanui is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Argyle takes a swing at Kiptanui's ribcage but misses.
Kiptanui darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Argyle uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kiptanui.
Kiptanui throws a combination. Argyle tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Kiptanui swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Argyle swats away the attempt to clinch by Kiptanui.
Kiptanui looks to land a left hand but Argyle moved out of range nicely.
Argyle tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kiptanui was well out of range. Poor timing from Argyle.
Argyle slaps away a takedown attempt from Kiptanui, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Argyle misses with a straight right.
Argyle closes the distance and clinches up with Kiptanui, looking for a takedown. Argyle pushes Kiptanui against the cage but Kiptanui circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Argyle.
Argyle takes a kick to the side of the head.

Kiptanui bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Kiptanui goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Argyle has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kiptanui but great work by Argyle.

Argyle swings around for an armbar but Kiptanui sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Argyle's guard.

Kiptanui got a little sloppy there for a moment and Argyle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kiptanui has managed to get both his arms back between Argyle's legs - danger averted.

Kiptanui content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Argyle has locked up a guillotine! Argyle's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Kiptanui is holding on here and Argyle must be using up a lot of energy. Kiptanui has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Argyle gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Trajan Argyle!
In his post fight interview, Trajan Argyle started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
