Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Highty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor Mulvenna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mulvenna has chosen "I'd Love to Knock the Hell out of you!" (Hank Williams Jr ) as his entrance music. Connor Mulvenna looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Highty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Connor Mulvenna!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Highty tries to keep at a distance but Mulvenna has taken the fight into the clinch.

Highty manages to break the clinch.
Highty shoots in for a takedown but Mulvenna shows good takedown defense.

Highty takes the fight into the clinch.
Mulvenna has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Highty breaks from the clinch.
Mulvenna misses with a few strikes there.

Mulvenna has managed to clinch.
Highty drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mulvenna pulls his leg out and moves away.

Mulvenna throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Highty was covering up waiting for the punch and Mulvenna finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Highty has his foot on Mulvenna's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mulvenna works his way back into a safe position though.

Highty looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Highty is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mulvenna postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Highty is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mulvenna, into his guard.
Mulvenna looks gassed!
Mulvenna keeping moving, preventing Highty from controlling successfully.
Mulvenna is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Highty is controlling him.
Highty is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Highty advances to half guard.
Mulvenna is trying to stand.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Highty tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mulvenna knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Highty is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Mulvenna blocking the ground and pound attempt from Highty.
Mulvenna wants to get back to his feet.

Highty decides to return to a standing position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mulvenna pushes Highty up against the ropes in a clinch.

Highty misses with a hook to the ribs.
Highty looking to throw knees to the head but Mulvenna is blocking nicely.
Mulvenna misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Highty breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Highty is defended easily by Mulvenna.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Highty. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Highty.
Mulvenna leaves Highty with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Mulvenna looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Mulvenna missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Highty keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Highty is trying to maintain the position but Mulvenna is very close to passing his half guard.
Mulvenna frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mulvenna throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Connor Mulvenna will probably get the nod.

Highty fails to land the takedown.

Mulvenna forces Highty back against the ropes and clinches.
Mulvenna looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Highty breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mulvenna swats away the attempt to clinch by Highty.

Mulvenna drives through with a takedown into Highty's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Highty looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mulvenna puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Highty is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mulvenna doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Highty.
Mulvenna is refusing to be controlled, as Highty sits in half guard.
Highty takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Mulvenna wants to stand back up but Highty manages to pass into side control.
Highty trying to control the position but Mulvenna is working away.

Highty wants to control but Mulvenna is keeping him busy.
Mulvenna wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Mulvenna prevents Highty from moving into mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mike Highty overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Highty stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mike Highty will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Highty is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mulvenna.

Highty has Mulvenna pressed against the ropes.

Mulvenna got a little sloppy there for a moment and Highty has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mulvenna has managed to get both his arms back between Highty's legs - danger averted.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Highty looking to control.
Mulvenna throws a big elbow that misses.
Highty bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mulvenna's guard.
Highty advances position into side control!

Highty wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mulvenna, who protects the arm well.
Mulvenna takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Mulvenna defending against the ground and pound.
Highty throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

Mulvenna wants to get back to his feet but Highty drags him back down.

Mulvenna throws Highty to one side and escapes!

Highty fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mulvenna sprawls well initially but Highty persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Highty wants to stand up but Mulvenna has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Mulvenna is trying to stand up here but Highty is controlling him well.

Highty is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Highty is trying to control. Mulvenna wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Highty in particular looking to stall.

Mulvenna wants to get back to his feet.
Highty is keen to just control but Mulvenna is a slippery customer.
Highty has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Highty with shots to the head and body - Mulvenna looks very uncomfortable down there.

Highty has control of Mulvenna's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mulvenna regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Mulvenna is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

The referee warns Mulvenna that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Highty trying to control but Mulvenna is having none of it.
Highty is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mulvenna is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Highty in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mulvenna's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Highty tries to control but Mulvenna wriggling away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mike Highty showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Highty has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
