The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Dragonov.
Dragonov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gaines bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Nice sprawl there from Dragonov as Gaines shoots in.
Dragonov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nice straight punches there by Dragonov. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Dragonov.

Gaines drives through and clinches with Dragonov against the cage.

Dragonov gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Dragonov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gaines. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Dragonov tries to bench press Gaines off him but Gaines keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dragonov is trying to get back to his feet.

Gaines is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dragonov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dragonov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Dragonov has had enough of the clinch but Gaines keeps him there for the moment.

Gaines shoots in and bounces Dragonov off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Dragonov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gaines's head.
Dragonov is looking to stand up but Gaines won't let him.

Gaines ducks under a wild hook from Dragonov.
Dragonov misses with a looping right.
Gaines tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gaines closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dragonov circles away.
Dragonov misses with a straight left.
Gaines fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gaines shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dragonov as he avoids it easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grant Gaines. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gaines shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dragonov's guard.

Dragonov manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Gaines closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Gaines keeps the fight on the outside.

Dragonov closes the distance and clinches.
Dragonov gets through Gaines's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Dragonov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dragonov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gaines manages to avoid it.
A head kick misses from Dragonov.
Gaines tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dragonov paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Boris Dragonov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dragonov throws a sloppy head kick and Gaines moves out of range easily.
Dragonov cracks Gaines with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Dragonov closes the distance and clinches up with Gaines, looking for a takedown. Dragonov pushes Gaines against the cage but Gaines circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Gaines scores a nice knee to the body.
Gaines tries a knee to the head but Dragonov blocks it.
Gaines using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Dragonov has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Dragonov throws an elbow but it misses.
Dragonov wants to get back to striking at distance but Gaines won't allow it.

Gaines is fighting off a takedown attempt but Dragonov is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Gaines to the mat. Gaines regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Gaines manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Dragonov connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Gaines avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gaines ducks into an uppercut from Dragonov and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!
