Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aluicious James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damon Rekker!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rekker closes the distance and pushes James back into the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James tries to pull guard but Rekker holds him up against the cage and eventually James drops back down to his feet.

James is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rekker is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The strikes coming from James are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
James postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

James goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rekker has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for James but great work by Rekker.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rekker is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, James has escaped the position, nice work there.

Rekker decides to take the fight back to the feet.
James is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rekker sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rekker works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

James has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rekker after a bit of a struggle.

James ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. James no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rekker doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rekker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rekker is one step ahead there.
Rekker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rekker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
James manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Rekker wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
James misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Poor strikes thrown by James there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Rekker is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
James throwing strikes here but Rekker is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

James jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rekker is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rekker and James has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

James creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rekker sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Rekker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
