The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prieto circles away from the clinch attempt

and Prieto counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
De Perereca looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Prieto sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed De Perereca's guard.

Prieto pushes De Perereca off and gets back to his feet.
Prieto tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
De Perereca tries to bum rush Prieto with a series of wild strikes but Prieto uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

De Perereca wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Prieto has him pressed against the cage.

Prieto breaks from the clinch.

Prieto feints and as De Perereca raises his hands in defense, Prieto changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Let's hope that Prieto has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Alexi Prieto was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Prieto feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Prieto is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Prieto drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Prieto has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for De Perereca!

De Perereca is bucking up trying to escape but Prieto cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Prieto takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Prieto cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Prieto is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but De Perereca is surviving well by controlling Prieto's body position as best he can.
