PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Sabotka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colly Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sergei Sabotka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Colly Davis!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sabotka tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Davis paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Davis keeps the fight on the outside.

Davis darts in and clinches Sabotka up against the cage.

Davis tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Davis wants to hit a switch here but Sabotka passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Davis there!
Sabotka wants to control the pace but Davis is squirming around nicely.

Sabotka pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Sabotka goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Davis turns into him and now he's in Sabotka's guard.
Davis wants to stand but Sabotka has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Sabotka wants to sweep here but Davis controlling him for the moment.
Davis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Sabotka sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sabotka is trying to get back to full guard.
Sabotka is refusing to be controlled, as Davis sits in half guard.

Davis is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Sabotka has managed to free his arm - good work.
Davis looks gassed!
Sabotka lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.
Sabotka tries to roll over but Davis keeps him under control.
Sabotka is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Davis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Davis's back!

Sabotka tries to get the hooks in deep but Davis pushed the leg off.

Davis is really stuck here.
Davis just trying to survive but Sabotka is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Sabotka is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Davis defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Sabotka is trying to stick to Davis's back but Davis is turning into Sabotka. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Sabotka's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Davis.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Davis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Sabotka tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sabotka is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Davis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Sabotka had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Davis is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sabotka Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Davis's back instead.

Sabotka is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Davis knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Davis for a finish.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sabotka moves in looking to clinch but Davis pushes him off.
Sabotka throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

It looks like Colly Davis has been cut.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Sabotka just misses with a elbow thrown towards Davis's brow.

Sabotka is fighting off a takedown attempt but Davis is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sabotka to the mat. Sabotka regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Davis feints and as Sabotka raises his hands in defense, Davis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Sabotka has his foot on Davis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davis works his way back into a safe position though.

Sabotka wants to stand up but Davis is controlling him.

Sabotka seems keen to control Davis's posture.

Sabotka doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Sabotka manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Davis manages to get himself to full guard.

Colly Davis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Davis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sabotka controls the pace.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Colly Davis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sabotka has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
