Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Diaz Van Troon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Murder!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jonathan Paton and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Troon looks to land a combination but Murder avoids it well.

Murder shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Van Troon really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Murder with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Murder controlling the position easily from mount.
Murder trying to control but Van Troon is having none of it.
Murder controlling the pace for now.
Van Troon tries to control the position but Murder now has his back.

Van Troon breaks Murder's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Murder has his foot on Van Troon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Van Troon works his way back into a safe position though.

Van Troon wants to free his trapped foot but Murder is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Van Troon lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Van Troon wants to take a breather but Murder is having none of it.
Van Troon moves nicely into side control.
Murder is looking to reverse the position.
Murder gets back to half guard.
Murder looks gassed!

Van Troon throwing shots but Murder is blocking nicely.
Murder is staying active underneath Van Troon, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Van Troon is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Van Troon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Murder is just riding it out for now. Van Troon eventually gives up the hold.

Murder keeping moving, preventing Van Troon from controlling successfully.

Murder is looking for a triangle but Van Troon pushes his legs off easily.
Murder throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Murder is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Van Troon cracks Murder with a solid left hand.

Murder working for a triangle but Van Troon defends it easily.
Van Troon trying to control the position from guard on top but Murder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Murder is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Murder is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Murder wants to lay and pray for a moment but Van Troon keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Murder dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Van Troon has his takedown stuffed

and Murder counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Van Troon's guard now.

Murder drops back looking for a leg! Van Troon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Van Troon manages to kick Murder off! Murder jumps back into Van Troon's guard.
Murder passes Van Troon's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Murder looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Murder is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Van Troon is just riding it out for now. Murder eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Van Troon wants to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Murder trying to pass the guard but Van Troon defending well.
Murder with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Van Troon trying to hold on to Murder's head to control him but Murder postures up.
Murder thows a huge punch but Van Troon dodges it nicely.

Van Troon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Murder can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Murder postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Van Troon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Murder, into his guard.

Murder has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Van Troon has passed into side control.
Murder regains half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Van Troon in particular looking to stall.

Van Troon is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Murder misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Murder regains full guard. Nicely done.

Murder looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Murder manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Van Troon manages to get himself to full guard.
Van Troon controls Murder momentarily but Murder frees himself.

Murder seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Van Troon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Murder changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Van Troon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Murder tries to score with some ground and pound. Van Troon controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Murder tries to advance to mount but Van Troon instead regains half guard.
Van Troon slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Murder drops back, looking for a kneebar! Van Troon looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Van Troon looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Van Troon!

Van Troon tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Van Troon is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Murder will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Murder tries to buck Van Troon off but Van Troon is having none of it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Van Troon is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Murder knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Frank Murder has got the better of the ground game so far.
Van Troon postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

and Murder decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Van Troon's guard.

Murder has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Van Troon should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Murder has tightened it up now! Van Troon should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
