Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Penagos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penagos comes to the cage accompanied by Somebody Gonna Get Their Ass Whooped!. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penagos misses with a looping right.
Penagos swings for the body but Machida moves out of range.
Machida throws an off balance right hand
and Machida takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Machida lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Machida walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Machida slips a straight right by Penagos.
Machida misses with a jab, cross combination.
Penagos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Machida circles away quickly and effectively.
An inside leg kick lands from Machida.
Machida does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Machida fails to land with a series of punches.
Machida fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Penagos manages to avoid it.
Penagos tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Machida paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Penagos lands with a thumping leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Machida throws the left hand but Penagos avoids the punch easily.
Machida closes the distance and clinches up with Penagos, looking for a takedown. Machida pushes Penagos against the cage but Penagos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Machida scores with a crisp jab that stopped Penagos in his tracks.

Machida connects with the punch.
Machida takes a swing at Penagos's ribcage but misses.
Penagos ducks under a wild hook from Machida.
Penagos keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Penagos misses with a wild combination.
Penagos uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Machida has time to react.
Lyoto Machida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Machida fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Penagos is out of range.

Machida throws a left and a right that both miss
and Penagos counters with a left and a right that stings Machida.
Penagos connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Penagos. Machida does a little dance to reset his feet.
Penagos leaves Machida with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Penagos throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
