PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Angelo Mustachio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mink Furer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mustachio displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Furer.

Mustachio shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Furer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Mustachio lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Furer can't keep his opponent in guard - Mustachio advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Mustachio is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Furer defends it well.
Furer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Furer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mustachio is working away from the top position though.

Mustachio is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Furer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mustachio.

Furer pushes Mustachio off and gets back to his feet.

Mustachio looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mustachio enables Furer to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mustachio manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Furer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mustachio, up you get!
Furer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Furer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Mustachio manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mink Furer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mustachio dives in and grabs Furer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Furer pushes down on Mustachio's head and hops out.

Nice sprawl there from Mustachio as Furer shoots in.
Angelo Mustachio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mink Furer.
Furer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Furer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mustachio's waist but Mustachio gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Furer off to one side.
Furer looks gassed!
Furer tries to close the distance and clinch but Mustachio swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Mustachio closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Furer quickly recovers to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mustachio is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Furer sees it coming and defends easily.

Mustachio tries to stand and escape but Furer actually recovers to full guard.
Mustachio wants to control from the top but Furer keeps moving.
Mustachio slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Furer gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Furer is not content to let Mustachio control the position.

Mustachio is looking for a kimura here.

Furer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Mustachio looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Furer wants to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mustachio is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Angelo Mustachio will probably get the nod.
That's time! Mustachio's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Furer throws a body punch but Mustachio moves out of range.
Mustachio stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mustachio wants it to stay on the feet.
Mustachio avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Furer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Furer throws a wild body kick that Mustachio sees coming a mile off.
Horrible takedown by Mustachio or perhaps it was just good defense by Furer which made him look bad.
Furer fails in his attempt to clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mustachio.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Angelo Mustachio. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Furer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mustachio moves out of range of the body kick.
Furer shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Furer has his takedown stuffed

and Mustachio decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Furer's guard.
Furer is breathing heavily.
Furer wants to stand up but Mustachio is controlling him.

Mustachio drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Furer dives on top into guard.

Mustachio has his foot on Furer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Furer works his way back into a safe position though.

Mustachio had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Furer defends it easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Furer is sitting in close to Mustachio's body. Mustachio has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Furer is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Furer is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Mustachio.
