PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jeppe Turska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesper Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turska comes to the cage accompanied by Last of the Mohicans Theme. The crowd seem to be enjoying Rush's choice of entrance music: Tom Sawyer - Rush. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jesper Rush!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rush jabs at Turska's body.
Rush throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Turska fails with a takedown attempt.
Rush lands a nice leg kick that just misses Turska's sensitive parts.
Turska will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rush looks to land a right hand but Turska moved out of range.
Rush cracks Turska with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Rush connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Turska shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rush as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeppe Turska. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Turska looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rush wants to control but Turska is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turska is keen to just control but Rush is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rush has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Turska is working away from the top position though.
Turska wants to control but Rush is keeping him busy.
Turska tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rush knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Rush looks to score with a jab to the body but Turska is just out of range.
Turska shoots in for a takedown but Rush shows good takedown defense.
Turska fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Turska takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Rush throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Turska on the side of the head.
Rush ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Turska moves away.

Turska shoots for a takedown but Rush saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Turska.
A big right from Rush misses.
Turska closes the distance and clinches up with Rush, looking for a takedown. Turska pushes Rush against the cage but Rush circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rush keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Turska is breathing heavily.
Rush throws a big shot that misses.

Turska feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rush is on top in guard.

Rush is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Rush must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Turska tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rush wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Rush seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Turska does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Rush is pressing down on Turska's thigh, looking to free his foot. Turska is holding on for now.
Rush takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Turska is trying to get back to full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Turska works his way to full guard. Good work.
Turska trying to keep a closed guard but Rush is proving a slippery customer.

Turska is looking for a triangle but Rush pushes his legs off easily.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Rush gets caught flat footed, as Turska shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Turska drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rush manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Turska has Rush in his guard.

Turska is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Rush postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Turska working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rush doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rush manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jesper Rush just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Turska looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rush is fending him off so far but Turska persists. Nope, Rush circles away and we're back to standing.

Turska is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Rush is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
