Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Madsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Grove (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Grove closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Madsen quickly recovers to half guard.
Grove wants to take a breather but Madsen is having none of it.
Madsen holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Grove prevents Madsen from standing back up.
Grove thows a huge punch but Madsen dodges it nicely.
Grove is pressing down on Madsen's thigh, looking to free his foot. Madsen is holding on for now.

Grove stands up from half guard.
Madsen shoots for a double leg takedown but Grove sprawls well. He's pushed Madsen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Madsen cracks Grove with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Grove shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Grove was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Grove is working for a guillotine from mount but Madsen frees his head quite easily.

Grove has his foot on Madsen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Madsen works his way back into a safe position though.

Grove has hold of Madsen's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Madsen manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Madsen wants to sweep but no luck.

Grove stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Madsen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Madsen is looking to stand back up but Grove counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Madsen.

Madsen tries to clinch up but Grove circles away and keeps his distance.
Alan Grove seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grove fails with the takedown.
Madsen throws a left and a right that both miss
and Grove counters with a straight right hand.
Grove fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Grove is looking for a kimura but Madsen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Grove to get the leverage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Grove content to control rather than advance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Madsen is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Grove scores with a couple of nice shots.

Madsen leaves Grove with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
