PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bud Macintosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Herbstreit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Herbstreit is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Herb Alpert - Street Life. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bud Macintosh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chad Herbstreit!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herbstreit closes the distance but Macintosh moves to the side
and Macintosh counters with a series of strikes. Herbstreit will be more careful next time no doubt.
Macintosh fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Herbstreit steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Macintosh.

Herbstreit gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Macintosh wants to control from the top but Herbstreit keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bud Macintosh.

Macintosh escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Herbstreit gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Macintosh is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Macintosh working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Herbstreit parries the strikes from Macintosh easily there. Macintosh is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Herbstreit to escape.
Macintosh wants to control but Herbstreit is keeping him busy.
Herbstreit is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Macintosh asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Herbstreit wants to get back to his feet but Macintosh drags him back down.

Macintosh tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Macintosh has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Macintosh wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Herbstreit, who protects the arm well.
Herbstreit is not content to let Macintosh control the position.
Herbstreit is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Macintosh is controlling him well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Herbstreit managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Macintosh.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bud Macintosh dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Herbstreit throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Herbstreit swings for the body but Macintosh moves out of range.
Macintosh tries for a takedown but Herbstreit sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Macintosh uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Herbstreit has time to react.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Macintosh shoots in and drives through. Herbstreit sprawls well.
Macintosh lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Herbstreit pushes Macintosh off looking to stand but Macintosh dives back in and keeps control.
Macintosh wants to free his trapped foot but Herbstreit is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Macintosh is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Macintosh is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Herbstreit knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Herbstreit for a finish.
