Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Aybar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wesley Malcovitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Aybar might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Calle Ocho (75,Brazil Street). Malcovitch has chosen BoomBox song as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Thiago Aybar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wesley Malcovitch!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aybar shoots in and bounces Malcovitch off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Malcovitch manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Aybar manages to get himself to full guard.
Malcovitch postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Aybar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Malcovitch keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Aybar's head.

Let's hope that Malcovitch has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Aybar is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Malcovitch's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Malcovitch's back!
Aybar has the hooks in. Malcovitch is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Aybar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Malcovitch but Malcovitch pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Aybar takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Malcovitch looks to land a combination. Aybar sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Aybar shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Malcovitch pinned against the cage. Malcovitch gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Aybar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Malcovitch as he jumps to the side.

Aybar closes the distance and clinches up with Malcovitch, looking for a takedown. Aybar pushes Malcovitch against the cage but Malcovitch circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Aybar shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Aybar showed some decent athleticism there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Malcovitch can do anything to dispel that myth.
Well, if Aybar is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Aybar lands a nice short elbow.
Aybar uses his free foot to push down on Malcovitch's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Malcovitch.

That was a close second round but I would say that Thiago Aybar will probably get the nod.

Aybar is in a horrible position here. Malcovitch smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Malcovitch lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Malcovitch cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Malcovitch is landing with some decent strikes but Aybar is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Malcovitch lands a nice shot to the head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

BOOM! Malcovitch connects with a massive shot to the dome!

And that's the end of the fight!
Wesley Malcovitch comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Malcovitch has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
