The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Payne looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Matthews could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Matthews stuffs the takedown.
Matthews lands a nice shot to the body.
Payne looks gassed!
Matthews throws a leg kick but Payne sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Matthews pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Matthews lands the left hand.
Payne on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Payne shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Matthews misses with a head kick.

Payne takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Matthews connects with a nice looking jab.
Matthews misses with a series of wild punches.
Payne takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Matthews fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Matthews throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Matthews works over Payne's head and body with a nice combination.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Matthews connects with a nice looking jab.
Matthews moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Matthews lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Oooooh!!! Matthews has knocked Payne down with a huge combo! Matthews steps away and waves a wobbly Payne back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Payne is rocked!
Matthews throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Matthews lands a left and a right that send Payne crashing to the mat, dazed. Matthews thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Payne is still on wobbly legs! Can Matthews finish him?
Matthews lands with an uppercut that bounces Payne off the cage and back into range.

Matthews connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Payne covering up! Matthews comes in with a big uppercut and Payne goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.
