PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Slim Calhoun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Page Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Calhoun comes into the arena with Always Strapped by: Lil Wayne blaring out of the sound system. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Page Knight was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Calhoun shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Knight's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Calhoun throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Knight works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Calhoun has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Knight is proving hard to escape from.

Calhoun drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Calhoun jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Knight postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Calhoun is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Knight, into his guard.

Knight is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Calhoun is aware though and is defending well.

Knight is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Knight has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Calhoun can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Calhoun looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Knight with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Calhoun connects with a nice short shot to Knight's temple.

Knight is desperately trying to improve his position but Calhoun has a good base and remains in mount.

Calhoun is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Knight can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Calhoun thows a huge punch but Knight dodges it nicely.

Knight is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Calhoun pulls his head out easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Knight is staying active underneath Calhoun, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Knight has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Calhoun. Oh but Knight has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Calhoun goes limp - he's gone! Knight jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
