Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pir Anha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Pupa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pir Anha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tony Pupa!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pupa dives in and grabs Anha's left leg, looking for a takedown. Anha pushes down on Pupa's head and hops out.
Anha keeps the fight on the outside.

Anha scores a takedown into full mount!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Anha connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Pupa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Anha. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Anha controlling the position easily from mount.
Anha wants to control the pace but Pupa is squirming around nicely.
Anha thowing shots but they're missing.
Anha throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Anha is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Pupa is surviving well by controlling Anha's body position as best he can.

Pupa defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Anha.

Anha is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pupa can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Anha jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Pupa is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Pupa and Anha has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Anha is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pupa has escaped the position, nice work there.

Anha controls the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Anha tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Anha has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Anha is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pupa has escaped the position, nice work there.

Anha goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Pupa rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Anha's guard! Nice work there by Pupa!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pupa wants to stand but Anha has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Pupa slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Anha.

Pupa postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Anha to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Anha shoots for a takedown but Pupa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Anha is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pupa sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Anha shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pupa as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pir Anha. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Anha will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pir Anha dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Pupa looks to land a combination but Anha avoids it well.
Pupa moves in looking to clinch but Anha pushes him off.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Anha.
Pir Anha is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Anha keeps the fight on the outside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horrible takedown by Anha or perhaps it was just good defense by Pupa which made him look bad.
Pupa shoots in for a double leg but Anha sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Pupa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pir Anha. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Anha shoots in for a takedown but Pupa shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pupa fails with an attempt to clinch.
Anha shoots for a takedown but Pupa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Pupa lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Anha shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pupa's guard.
Pupa wants to get back to his feet but Anha is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Anha wants to control from the top but Pupa keeps moving.
Pir Anha overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Anha loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Anha trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Pupa has momentary wrist control but Anha slips an elbow through the middle.
Anha passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Anha is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pupa knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Anha is trying to get an arm triangle but Pupa is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anha in side control, throwing shots but Pupa defends.

Anha tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Anha has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Anha is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pupa knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Anha passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Pupa!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Anha is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Pupa to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Pupa shrugs it off.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Anha fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Anha misses with a takedown attempt - Pupa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pupa is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Pupa clinches up with Anha and pushes him back against the cage.
Anha is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Pupa gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pir Anha. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pupa throws a knee to the head but misses.
Pupa looking to throw knees to the head but Anha is blocking nicely.
Pupa tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Anha goes for a takedown attempt but Pupa pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Pupa stuffs the takedown.
Pupa takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Pupa defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Anha.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pupa tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Anha counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Anha is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pupa is just riding it out for now. Anha eventually gives up the hold.

Anha is trying for a kimura here. Pupa looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Anha wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Pir Anha!
Pir Anha was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
