Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Ghirardi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Herdy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ghirardi doesn't manage to clinch there - Herdy circles away.
Ghirardi misses with a takedown attempt
and Herdy counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Herdy is trying to work for a kimura but Ghirardi is defending well.
Ghirardi is looking to escape.
Ghirardi is refusing to be controlled, as Herdy sits in half guard.
Herdy not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Herdy wants to pass to mount but Ghirardi is defending the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Herdy is trying to control. Ghirardi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Herdy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ghirardi defends it well.
Herdy is keen to just control but Ghirardi is a slippery customer.

Herdy is looking to pass Ghirardi's guard but actually Ghirardi recovers to full guard.
Ghirardi really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Herdy trying to control the position from guard on top but Ghirardi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Herdy is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Ghirardi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Ghirardi wants to control but Herdy is keeping busy.
Ghirardi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Herdy on the ground.

Herdy is landing with some decent strikes but Ghirardi is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Ghirardi is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Herdy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Herdy cracks Ghirardi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Herdy breaks from Ghirardi's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Herdy lands a heavy elbow.
Herdy has hold of Ghirardi's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ghirardi manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Ghirardi is in a horrible position here. Herdy smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Ghirardi is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Herdy has taken his back.
Herdy sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Ghirardi taps out!

After winning the bout, Joao Herdy thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
