The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melendez connects with an inside leg kick.
Maddox avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Melendez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Melendez is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Maddox is controlling him well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Melendez is staying active underneath Maddox, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Maddox thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Melendez scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Maddox manages to mount him!
