The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ferrall feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Gaetan looking for a guillotine here but Ferrall defends easily.

Gaetan has an active guard here but Ferrall has managed to pass into half guard.

Gaetan is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Ferrall lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Gaetan down.
Gaetan takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Ferrall is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gaetan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Ferrall is nestled in close to Gaetan, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Gaetan is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ferrall scores with a couple of nice shots.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gaetan is staying active underneath Ferrall, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ferrall works his foot free and advances to mount.
Ferrall pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

It looks like Ditte Gaetan has been cut.
Ferrall looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Gaetan covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

After the fight, Scott Ferrall was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
