PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rich Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uri Gellar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gellar comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Rockstar kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rich Richards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Uri Gellar!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Richards looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Gellar tries to clinch but Richards moves out of range.
Richards displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gellar.
Richards could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gellar shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Richards connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


It looks like Uri Gellar has been cut.
Gellar looks gassed!
Richards shoots for a takedown but Gellar saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Gellar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Rich Richards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Uri Gellar.

Richards moves into range and clinches up with Gellar.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Richards ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Richards no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Gellar stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gellar wants it to stay on the feet.

Gellar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Richards tries to avoid it but Gellar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Richards to the ground. Richards escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Gellar keeps control of Richards as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Gellar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Richards walks away with a smile on his face. Gellar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Richards shoots in for a takedown but Gellar shows good takedown defense.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gellar.

Gellar is desperately trying to improve his position but Richards has a good base and remains in mount.

Gellar wants to hold on but Richards pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Richards wants to control the pace but Gellar is squirming around nicely.

Gellar defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Richards.

Richards connects with a solid leg kick.

Richards tries to clinch there but Gellar circles away.
Richards throws a push kick but Gellar slaps the foot to one side.

Gellar gets tackled into the cage by Richards. Richards maintains the clinch.

Gellar tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Richards just stands there and leans against the cage.
Richards tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Richards manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Richards tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gellar smiles and moves away.
Richards scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Gellar is breathing heavily.

Richards drives through with a takedown into guard.

Richards gets to his feet. Gellar looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Richards connects with a solid leg kick.
Rich Richards is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Richards is defended easily by Gellar.

Richards tries to bum rush Gellar with a series of wild strikes but Gellar uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rich Richards.
Gellar closes this distance looking for a takedown but Richards circles away.

Richards slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Richards drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Richards jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

We're going to have a standup here because Rich Richards wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Richards closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gellar tries to stall but Richards uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Richards closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gellar's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Richards is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Richards is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gellar can do to turn this around?

Gellar looking for a guillotine here but Richards defends easily.

Gellar is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Richards dives into side control.

Richards has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Both fighters circling a little - Richards finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Richards drives through and clinches with Gellar against the cage.
Gellar can't get the takedown.

Richards breaks the clinch.

Gellar gets caught flat footed, as Richards shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Gellar controls Richards momentarily but Richards frees himself.
Rich Richards overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Richards controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rich Richards wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Richards smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Richards doesn't manage to clinch there - Gellar circles away.
Gellar shoots in but no luck this time.

Richards tries to clinch but Gellar is having none of it.
Gellar keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Gellar darts in and clinches Richards up against the cage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gellar decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Richards, up you get!
Uri Gellar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gellar clinches up with Richards and pushes him back against the cage.
Rich Richards is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Richards has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
