PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Harry Potter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Case Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Potter might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hedwig's theme. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Harry Potter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Case Walker!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker closes the distance and clinches.
Walker drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Walker tries to circle away but Potter has him pinned against the cage.
Walker gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Potter.

Walker lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Potter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Walker wants to control but Potter is keeping him busy.
Potter trying to control here.

Case Walker has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Walker.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Potter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Walker counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Walker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Potter is keeping the position for now.
Walker wants to control from the top but Potter keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Case Walker.
Potter fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harry Potter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Walker has Potter up against the cage in a clinch.
Walker has Potter pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Potter manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Walker prevents a takedown attempt there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Walker has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Potter clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Walker is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Potter defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Potter is holding onto Walker's left hand, preventing any choke attempts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Case Walker dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Walker fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Walker darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Walker is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Walker wants to stand but Potter has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Walker trying to work for an americana but Potter has managed to regain full guard.
Walker showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Walker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Potter looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Potter looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Potter!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Potter wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Potter goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Walker rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Potter's guard! Nice work there by Walker!

Potter looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Walker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Potter looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Potter looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Potter!

Potter is trying to get an arm triangle but Walker is defending well.

Potter looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Potter is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Walker has escaped the position, nice work there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Potter goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Walker rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Potter's guard! Nice work there by Walker!
Walker pushes down on Potter's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Walker is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Case Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Potter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Potter misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Potter shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Walker defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker shoots in and gets a takedown into Potter's guard.

Potter keeping moving, preventing Walker from controlling successfully.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Walker scoring with punches to the head and body.
Walker throwing strikes but missing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Walker passes into half guard.
Walker sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Potter defending well though.
Walker stalling away here and it's allowed Potter to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walker not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Walker wants to stand but Potter is controlling his posture from full guard.
Potter is trying to control the position but Walker postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Case Walker was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Potter looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Walker!
Walker tries to reverse the position but Potter maintains control.
Walker is squirming around, avoiding Potter's attempts to control the action.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Walker is in all sorts of trouble here.

Potter is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Walker is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Walker flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Potter anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Walker and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Potter slips an arm under Walker chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Potter has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Potter is squeezing on Walker like an anaconda would it's prey. Walker fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Harry Potter!
