PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Roza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bogdan Wasilcov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roza is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Bogdan Wasilcov is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bogdan Wasilcov!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wasilcov shoots in for a takedown but Roza shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wasilcov looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Wasilcov instigates a clinch.
Wasilcov throws a knee to the head but misses.
Wasilcov has had enough of the clinch but Roza keeps him there for the moment.
Roza controlling the action here for a moment.

Roza ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Roza no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bogdan Wasilcov has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Wasilcov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Roza pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Roza's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

and Roza connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wasilcov shoots in for a double leg but Roza sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Wasilcov wants to sweep here but Roza controlling him for the moment.

Wasilcov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wasilcov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Roza controls the pace.

Roza tries to free his leg and advance position but Wasilcov is retaining full guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Roza is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Wasilcov will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Wasilcov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Wasilcov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Roza sprawls well. Roza wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wasilcov gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roza fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Wasilcov to the ground. Roza is now in Wasilcov's guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Roza passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Roza is taking a breather. Wasilcov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wasilcov throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

and Roza counters with a stiff right hand.
No joy there for Wasilcov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wasilcov closes the distance but Roza moves to the side
and Roza counters with a series of strikes. Wasilcov will be more careful next time no doubt.
No luck for Roza with that takedown attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wasilcov wants to clinch.
Justin Roza is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Justin Roza.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Roza, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
