Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Drew Down (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kien Ngo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Down might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to 50 Cent - I Get Money. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ngo avoids the body shot from Down.

Ngo scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Down thuds his right hand into Ngo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Down feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ngos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

A close round but Kien Ngo will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ngo lands a nice shot that snaps Down's head back.
Ngo bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Down is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ngo.

Ngo chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Down can pounce on him.

Down stuns Ngo with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Down uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ngo.

Ngo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Down napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Ngo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Down keeps working.

Ngo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Ngo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Down is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Ngo sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Down is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Ngo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Down sprawls well. Down wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ngo gets slowly back to his feet.

Ngo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Down is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ngo.

Drew Down has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

I would just about give that final round to Kien Ngo.
Well Ngo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
