The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Overeem swivels and escapes.
Overeem throws a head kick that misses.
Tyson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Tyson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tyson lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Overeem can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tyson controls the pace.

Tyson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Overeem looks to land a combination but Tyson avoids it well.
Tyson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Overeem at a distance.

Tyson tries to keep at a distance but Overeem has taken the fight into the clinch.
Overeem wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tyson has him pressed against the cage.

Tyson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A head kick misses from Overeem.

Tyson gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Tyson wants to free his trapped foot but Overeem is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Overeem pushes Tyson off looking to stand but Tyson dives back in and keeps control.
Tyson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Overeem is looking to get back to full guard here but Tyson has managed to pass to side control instead.
Tyson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Overeem wants to control but Tyson postures up.

Tyson has hold of Overeem's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Overeem tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Tyson cranks the arm and Overeem screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Overeem, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
