PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sergey Brunner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Brunner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sean Foster!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Sergei Dronov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brunner has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Brunner fails in his attempt to clinch.
Brunner looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Foster gets caught flat footed, as Brunner shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Brunner trying to control but Foster is working from the bottom.
Brunner is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Brunner tries to free his leg and advance position but Foster is retaining full guard.
Foster keeping moving, preventing Brunner from controlling successfully.
Foster doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brunner trying to control but Foster is working from the bottom.
Foster is trying to control the position but Brunner postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brunner does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Brunner shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Foster as he jumps to the side.

Brunner shoots in and bounces Foster off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Foster is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Brunner slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Foster is pulling down on Brunner's head. It's preventing any offense from Brunner, at least for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Foster wants to sweep here but Brunner controlling him for the moment.
Brunner throws a strike but Foster rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Brunner avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Brunner keeping moving, preventing Foster from controlling successfully.
Foster looking to pass the guard.
Brunner has control of Foster's left arm, preventing Foster from doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Foster trying to control but Brunner is working from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Brunner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Foster tries to avoid it but Brunner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Foster to the ground. Foster escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergey Brunner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brunner shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Foster but Foster pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Brunner is breathing heavily.
Nice takedown defense from Foster. No joy for Brunner on that attempt.

Foster closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Foster can't get the takedown.

Foster breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Brunner misses with an uppercut.

Brunner gets the takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brunner wants to stand but Foster has his arm trapped.
Foster tries to escape but Brunner is in control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Foster can do anything to dispel that myth.
Foster regains half guard.
Foster tries to roll over but Brunner keeps him under control.
Brunner trying to control from half guard but Foster is working away.
Foster is trying to get back to full guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Brunner lands a nice short elbow.
Brunner is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sergey Brunner will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Brunner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Foster's waist but Foster gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brunner off to one side.
Foster throws a leg kick that misses.
Brunner fails to land the takedown.
Brunner tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Foster counters with a shoot takedown. Brunner fights it but they end up in guard.

Brunner looking for a guillotine here but Foster defends easily.
Brunner is trying to keep Foster in close.
Brunner throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Foster is breathing heavily.
Brunner keeping full guard, as Foster tries to pass.

Brunner is looking for a triangle but Foster pushes his legs off easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brunner trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Foster trying to control but Brunner is working from the bottom.

Brunner looking for a triangle here. Foster is fighting it but it looks tight! Brunner pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Foster is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Sergey Brunner!
