PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Ferr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anton Goliathov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Ferr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anton Goliathov!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ferr feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Goliathov wriggles free and stands up.
Goliathov fails to land the takedown.
Goliathov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ferr sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ferr keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
David Ferr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anton Goliathov.
Goliathov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ferr sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Goliathov somewhat.

Ferr scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Goliathov bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Goliathov keeps the fight on the outside.
Ferr slips a jab and a cross from Goliathov.
Goliathov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ferr tries to avoid it but Goliathov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ferr to the ground. Ferr escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Goliathov misses with a lunging right hand

and Ferr counters with a crisp one two that drops Goliathov! Ferr thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Goliathov to his feet! Goliathov is in big trouble!
Goliathov looks gassed!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ferr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ferr shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Ferr is pressing down on Goliathov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Goliathov is holding on for now.
Ferr seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goliathov is trying to stand back up but Ferr is controlling him
Ferr tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Goliathov.
Goliathov looks like he's trying to stand up.
Ferr wants to stand up but Goliathov is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ferr thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Goliathov's head.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Ferr throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Goliathov wants to get back to his feet.
Ferr uses his free foot to push down on Goliathov's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Goliathov.
Goliathov is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Ferr jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Goliathov manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Goliathov wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Goliathov dodges the ground and pound from Ferr.

Ferr tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ferr has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ferr wants to stand but Goliathov is controlling his arm.

Goliathov is pushing Ferr's head away, looking to escape. Ferr manages to hold on to the position though.
Ferr in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Ferr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Goliathov keeps working.

Goliathov sneaks out the side door and pushes Ferr away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Ferr tries to clinch up.
Goliathov circles away from the clinch attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Goliathov scores with a jab to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ferr misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Goliathov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Ferr dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Goliathov connects with the punch.
Ferr closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Goliathov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Goliathov scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Ferr misses with a wild combination.

Goliathov scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Goliathov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Ferr gets a double leg takedown into Goliathov's guard.
Goliathov wants to stand but Ferr is controlling the position.
Ferr would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Ferr stands and steps away. Goliathov gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Goliathov shoots in looking for a takedown. Ferr tries to sprawl out of it but Goliathov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ferr manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Goliathov gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Ferr.

Ferr throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Goliathov was covering up waiting for the punch and Ferr finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Anton Goliathov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ferr throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
David Ferr is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Goliathov throws a jab when Ferr was well out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
David Ferr showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Ferr has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
