The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dean rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hurt moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hurt tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dean swivels and escapes.
Hurt falls off balance throwing a combination
and Dean counters with a three punch combo that has Hurt backing up. Hurt nods at Dean to acknowledge the strikes.
Hurt misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hurt postures up in Dean's guard and throws a big left but Dean blocks it.
Hurt throws and elbow that misses. Dean uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hurt's guard. Nice move by Dean!
Hurt manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Hurt is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Dean has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Dean is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hurt cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Dean stalks Hurt and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hurt's face. Hurt staggers backwards, shaken.
Hurt cracks Dean with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Dean looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Hurt finish him?
Dean is still on wobbly legs! Can Hurt finish him?
Dean shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Hurt looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Hurt tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Dean.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hurt stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Dean to get to his feet.
Dean seems to have recovered his senses.

Hurt throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dean ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Hurt shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Dean counters with a three punch combo that has Hurt backing up. Hurt nods at Dean to acknowledge the strikes.

Hurt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dean looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Dean drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hurt looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hurt looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hurt!

Dean dodges the ground and pound from Hurt.
You can see the frustration on Dean's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Herb Hurt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
