PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noah Bu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bu has chosen Rebirt of Slick as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Noah Bu was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bu bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Burns's head.
Burns walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Burns misses with a low kick.
Burns on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Bu tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Burns was well out of range. Poor timing from Bu.
Some wild striking there from Burns.

Bu clinches up against the cage.
Bu lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

It looks like Carl Burns has been cut.

Bu takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Bu throws a looping overhand right but Burns ducks down to avoid it.
Carl Burns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Bu cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Bu wants to clinch up but Burns keeps it at a distance.

Bu fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Burns sprawls well initially but Bu persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Bu must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bu jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Burns manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bu wants to control but Burns is keeping him busy.

Burns tries to bench press Bu off him but Bu keeps the position.
Bu is working Burns over with some ground and pound from side control.

Burns tries to buck Bu off but Bu is having none of it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Burns takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Bu is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Burns's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Burns tries to move into range but Bu moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Bu cracks a nice hook into Burns's ribs.
Burns's jab looks to have found its range, popping Bu under the eye.
Bu shoots for a takedown but Burns saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bu misses with a two punch combination.
Burns avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bu lands a nice shot to the body.
A slapping leg kick lands for Burns.
Bu throws a body punch but Burns moves out of range.
Carl Burns is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bu tries to clinch but Burns moves out of range.
Burns rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bu moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bu getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Jeez, Carl Burns's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Bu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Burns paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Burns misses with a short punch on the inside.
Bu looking to throw knees to the head but Burns is blocking nicely.
Burns tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Burns is trying to break the clinch but Bu has him pressed against the cage.

Burns pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Burns thows a body shot but no joy.
Burns throws the kick towards the body but Bu avoids it.
Burns takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Burns holds on and takes a little breather.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
