Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fighters Name (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Liam Cote!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Name has his takedown stuffed
and Cote counters with a nice body shot.
Cote connects with a crisp jab.

Name scores with a takedown into Cote's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Name pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cote is keeping the position for now.
Name slips nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Name is trying to control the action in half guard but Cote is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Cote is trying to stand.
Cote is staying active underneath Name, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Name prevents Cote from improving his position.
Name is looking to stall here but Cote recovers full guard.
Name trying to control but Cote is working from the bottom.
Cote wants to stand and escape but Name is having none of it.
Cote manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Name manages to get himself to full guard.
Name controls Cote momentarily but Cote frees himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cote controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Name looking for a sweep. Not yet Name, not yet.

Name looking for a guillotine here but Cote defends easily.
Name working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cote.
Cote throws a big elbow that misses.
Name avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Name looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Name is breathing heavily.

Cote stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Cote shoots for a double leg takedown but Name sprawls well. He's pushed Cote's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Name changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cote fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Cote darts in and clinches Name up against the cage.
Name tries to break the clinch but Cote is controlling the position.

Cote wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Name tries to pull guard but Cote forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fighters Name. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Name keeps control of Cote as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Name tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Name is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Cote is defending well.
Cote prevents a takedown attempt there.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cote wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Name shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cote defends it nicely.

Name throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cote's waist but Cote gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Name off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fighters Name. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Name slips a jab and a cross from Cote.
Name walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Horrible takedown by Cote or perhaps it was just good defense by Name which made him look bad.

Cote shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Name manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Name is working an open guard so Cote takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Cote scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Name doesn't seem bothered though.
Fighters Name is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cote digs a good body shot into Name's ribs.
Name ducks right into an uppercut from Cote.
Liam Cote seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Name tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cote swivels and escapes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cote connects with a body shot.
Name doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Cote takes the fight into the clinch.
Cote wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Name prevents Cote from breaking the clinch.
Name misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Cote tries to break free but Name pushes him back against the cage.

Cote manages to break the clinch.
Cote fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Name looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Name circles away from the clinch attempt.
Name fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Cote works the jab nicely.
Cote shoots in and drives through. Name sprawls well.
A punch lands to the side of Name 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Cote throws a series of punches but Name avoids them all with ease.

Cote has a takedown stuffed.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Liam Cote showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Name's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Cote misses with a straight left.
Name takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Cote will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cote looks to land a combination. Name sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Cote fails with a takedown attempt.

Name throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cote was covering up waiting for the punch and Name finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Name trying to control the position from guard on top but Cote is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Name looking to sit in guard and control but Cote gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cote throws an elbow that misses. Name uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cote's guard. Nice move by Name!
Name trying to control the position from guard on top but Cote is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fighters Name overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Name passes Cote's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Name thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Cote is trying to stand.
Name not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cote manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Name trying to control but Cote is working from the bottom.
Name pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cote is keeping the position for now.

Cote pushes Name off and scrambles back to his feet.

Left hook, right uppercut from Cote.
Name shoots in looking for a takedown but Cote manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Name's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Name shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cote but Cote pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Nice uppercut lands for Cote. That snapped Name's head back.
Name with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Cote to score with a decent uppercut.

Cote can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Name controls the pace.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fighters Name.
I think Cote has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
