Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joel Sands (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frankie Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joel Sands has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joel Sands!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frankie Edgar!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sands tries to sprawl but Edgar drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Edgar is keen to just control but Sands is a slippery customer.

Edgar is looking for a kimura but Sands is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Edgar to get the leverage.
Edgar is trying to control the action in half guard but Sands is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Sands wants to control but Edgar is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Edgar passes into side control, despite Sands's attempt to control the position.

Sands manages to work his way to half guard, despite Edgar's best efforts.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Edgar is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sands doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Edgar.

Edgar drops back looking for a leg! Sands is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sands manages to kick Edgar off! Edgar jumps back into Sands's guard.

Edgar decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sands, up you get!

Frankie Edgar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Sands shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Edgar manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Sands will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Edgar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sands doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Edgar is tightening it up a little... Sands has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Sands reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Sands taps out! Nice BJJ there by Edgar!
