The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Nunes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Brashears throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nunes was covering up waiting for the punch and Brashears finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nunes dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Brashears. That did some damage!

Nunes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
