PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tomek Gutzeit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Spitteri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gutzeit comes to the cage accompanied by Sobota- Do gory leb. Spitteri comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Before I Forget kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tomek Gutzeit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sean Spitteri!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gutzeit manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Spitteri on his heels. He'll look to pass Spitteri's guard now, I'm sure.

Gutzeit drops back, looking for a kneebar! Spitteri looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Spitteri looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Spitteri!
Spitteri misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gutzeit is trying to get back to half guard.
Gutzeit is working hard here to advance position.
Gutzeit sneaks back into half guard.
Spitteri missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Spitteri thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Spitteri throwing shots but Gutzeit is blocking nicely.
Spitteri tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gutzeit knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Gutzeit is staying active underneath Spitteri, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Spitteri really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gutzeit. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gutzeit is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Spitteri's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Spitteri's back!

Gutzeit has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Spitteri has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Gutzeit is not going to allow Spitteri to sit and survive in this position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gutzeit is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Spitteri knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Spitteri for a finish.

Spitteri breaks Gutzeit's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Gutzeit is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Spitteri is aware though and is defending well.

Spitteri content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Gutzeit has locked up a guillotine! Gutzeit's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Spitteri is holding on here and Gutzeit must be using up a lot of energy. Spitteri has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Gutzeit gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Tomek Gutzeit!
