PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hulk Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tap Out (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hogan kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The real American. Hulk Hogan has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hulk Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tap Out!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hogan moves into the clinch successfully.
Out tries for a takedown but Hogan manages to get underhooks.
Out has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hogan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Out tries to score a body lock takedown but Hogan shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hulk Hogan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tap Out.
Out is trying to drag Hogan to the mat but Hogan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hogan has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Out is trying to keep an underhook but Hogan manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Hogan thows a huge punch but Out dodges it nicely.
Out won't allow Hogan to pass to mount.
Hogan trying to control from half guard but Out is working away.

Hogan seems to be working for a kimura but Out defends the submission attempt.

Hogan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Out defends it well.
Out moves into full guard.
Hogan controlling from the top position.

Hogan preventing the sweep.
Out controlling the position.
Hogan wants to control from the top but Out keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Hulk Hogan just wasn't active enough.

Out shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Out showed some decent athleticism there.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hogan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Hogan wants to improve his position but Out is controlling well.
Hogan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Out.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Out is trying to control. Hogan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Out tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hogan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Hogan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hogan flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Out throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hogan wants to control but Out is keeping busy.
Out is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Out is stalling here. Hogan is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Out seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hogan has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
A lull in the action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Out is trying to control Hogan's posture but Hogan avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hulk Hogan will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Out ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hogan moves away.
Hogan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Out avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Hogan looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Hogan looking to sit in guard and control but Out gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hulk Hogan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Out missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Out trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Out trying to control but Hogan is working from the bottom.

Out wants to control from the top but Hogan keeps moving.
Out trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Hogan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Out doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Out manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Out trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Hogan manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Hogan postures up in Out's guard and throws a big left but Out blocks it.
Out is pulling down on Hogan's head to control his posture.
Out is trying to keep Hogan in close.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tap Out hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hogan misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Out.
Hogan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Hogan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hogan is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Out reverses the position - he's now on top in Hogan's guard.

Out is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hogan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hogan has escaped and now he's on top!
Hogan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Sloppy strikes from Hogan. Those never looked like landing.
Out slips a jab and a cross from Hogan.
Hogan throws a push kick but Out slaps the foot to one side.
Hogan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Out.
Out shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hogan as he jumps to the side.
Out gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hogan counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Hulk Hogan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tap Out.
Out tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hogan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Out somewhat.

Hogan shoots in and bounces Out off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.


Out is rocked!
Hogan stands up over Out, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Out is still in real trouble! Can Hogan finish him?

Out looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hogan is one step ahead there.
Hogan is in close to Out's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hogan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Out seems to have recovered his senses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hogan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Out holds on and takes a little breather.
Out keeping moving, preventing Hogan from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hogan misses with a body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Out shoots in looking for a takedown. Hogan tries to sprawl out of it but Out keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hogan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Out tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hogan swivels and escapes.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hogan.

Out gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Out is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hogan throws an elbow that misses. Out uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hogan's guard. Nice move by Out!

Hogan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Out can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Out pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hogan is keeping the position for now.

Hogan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Out doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Out manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Out passes Hogan's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hulk Hogan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Out missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Out wants to pass the guard but Hogan is defending well.
The fighters are battling for position here. Hogan manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Out throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hogan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Tap Out has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Out with a flurry of punches that miss.

Hulk Hogan showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hogan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
