Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Stoner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nixon lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Nice sprawl there from Stoner as Nixon shoots in.
Stoner throws a head kick that misses
and Nixon counters with a body kick.
Nixon stuffs the takedown.
Stoner shoots in but Nixon avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Stoner gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Nixon jumps guard and drags Stoner to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Stoner drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Nixon dives on top into guard.

Stoner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nixon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

and Nixon holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nixon throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nixon is defended easily by Stoner.

A relieved looking David Nixon thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
